Cristian wrote a great quote in the calandar you sent me that i have used many times in the past few weeks. i love how he said faith in god means faith in his timing. this was a fantastic week we only had a couple days of fun contacting but i loved what i learned from this week.
Wow what a week first off i cant tell you how glad i am that usa pulled through on wednesday. because i may or may not have put piña coladas on the game with my companion and Gerson. haha everyone gave me a hard time on thursday because of the win but its ok i have even contacted some people this week cause of it. secondly we got a less active sister to go to church after 9 years of inactivity. now were trying to get her mom to come back too. but honestly the work here is going well other than the investigator that we were going to baptize went out of town again. but we'll get him in the next couple weeks. haha
I had the opportunity to talk to an amazing family that by the natrual eye would seem like a family that is a little out of place in the sacrament meeting the brother never goes with a tie and they live with a bunch of people that drink and smoke. not the ideal croud. but this week when we ate with them they had some issues with one of the elders in my district. so after the food i stayed with my companion to try and smooth things over with the family. we had a 4 hour talk about the trials they had faced over the past two years after having lost their oldest son to a freak accident. he was a bout jacobs age when he passed and as they told us the experiences they had faced since his passing it hit me hard seeing the pain that they feel. i dont think i have ever cried as much as i did on thursday in my whole mission. but then they told me that they go to church so that they can feel peace and confort that one day they will see him again. when people share thoughts like that with me it helps me put this world into perspective.
ive really enjoyed the last few weeks and am looking forward to keeping things like they are or better for till the end derek our president sent us a letter about raising the bar its the talk that was used to raise missionary expectiations. i was going to send it to you but then i remembered that its in spanish and it probably wouldnt help that much yet. but look up that talk it will help you prepare a little im sure you are doing a great job preparing love y'all so much! cant wait to talk in 3 weeks!

well i tried this week but i got shut down a lot more so we focused on investigators and put a baptismal date it was awesome my child is growing up so fast right now im starting to let him take control of lessons and planning for our investigators he is doing a great job and other than answering deeper doctrinal topics he does really really well!
this week has been incredible for me it was a toughie because nobody wanted to talk with us in the street but we had a great time with investigators! I am really really pumped about my district this week they had a crazy experience and i got to help a little with what they were going through. i feel like ihave a lot of confidence with the elders in my district! they are working hard and im just loving my mission right now this is probably the most fun i have had in my whole mish.
this week we had interviews and i got a new recomend! i figure i only get one from my mission president so i had to take advantage! we had a great talk and he was really content with the way i was helping the elders in my district and liked my goals for them. i wish i could have had this vision my whole mission its just a blast! my president also told me that i will have one more area before i finish the mission! so right after i call home for the last time i will be getting into my last area! how crazy well ihave a lesson in like 5 minutes so i have to go but I love you all so much!

alrighty so these last two weeks were absoulutely awesome. first off last weekend was gersons baptism and it was awesome! he seemed really happy with his decision, and he got a job three days later. so right now we are pretty happy about how he is doing. rest of that week was pretty normal or maybe a little below average. but right now we are loving life! changes were last week and two of the elders in my district had changes. right now im district leader again and just trying to get tan outside with my kid. jaja
In the leaders meeting he invited us to talk to every one like he has done my whole mission and told us he wanted to se how many people we could contact in a week. my companion and I took it to heart. i have never talked to so many people in my life and now im just trying to get my district to buy into the talk to everyone you see program. because last week flew by just trying to get our goals and working.
One fun story was when i had to go and do an interview like friday and on the way there we contacted everyone in our wagon in the metro, i just looked at my companion and told him i would meet him in the middle he smiled and just said ok. love him he is so game to just work with me that probably why we get along pretty well. but yeah its just been like that all week just a talk to the whole city before i go home;)
So how about confrence it was freaking awesome! i love love love confrence im pretty sure it converted all of the investigators that went we are planning to baptize in two weeks and the guy that went just loved priesthood session. my favorite talks were President packer and Elder ballard. but there were so many good talks that its just hard to choose. I loved the focus on the atonement and the resurection of Jesus, that was my focus all week when i talked to my district and basically anywhere i went to teach.
Yesterday morning, ok first off for the three days before sunday i had invited my whole district to read sections in the bible talking about the resurection and the atonement/ crucifiction of Jesus Christ. then sunday after asking the 4 companionships to evalute one of the 4 accounts of the resurection of Christ me meet for a breakfast/ testimony meeting. the spirit was so strong there and it almost broght me to tears to hear the powerful testimonies of our district. I know he lives and try and contemplate what he has done for me. i think of all of my mistakes and its hard to understand sometimes how he has so much patience with me. and im the one who is supposed to be an example for the people i teach. but this time i have been out here has brought me lots of joy and understanding.
well i cant wait to here how your week went i love yall so much you cant imagine. and I liked to relflect on your plan dad not so much details but personal conversion. so many times as a leader in the mission i have tried to change the elders, but it helped me see that my job wasnt so much chew out t he elderes as much as help them get converted to what they need to be doing. so thanks!

hmmm did you eat street tacos too? jaja right now i am having a much better week and i know p day definately shouldnt be the best story of the week but you have no idea how long it has been since i have played basket ball on a hard wood floor. this may have been one of my favorite p day activities. it was a blast like you have no idea. i played all morning today and i could almost dunk but considering that the guy in the gym killed my legs this morning im pretty sure i could do it. well right now i feel great aobut my mission because Gerson will get baptized this week!!!! he was quite a process but im so so happy that he made the decision finally but we know that satan has to get a hand on everything and he got super sick last week. so the only thing that would keep him from getting dunked saturday would be the doctor not clearing him. hate that. but im really happy down here right now.
why do we have to have mexicans right now... i wish i could be there to talk to them it would be interesting to see how it is on the other side of the deal because i feel like the people here have a lot of patience right now. help them out as much as you can right now having a new missionary in the area is fun but sometimes its hard because they still are learning how to teach the gospel. so sometimes they say stuff that need a gentle correction. trust me these last few weeks have been so much fun but I forgot how hard it is when your companion knows just a little more of the doctrine than most of the people. but new missionaries have a great spirit. i feel like that raw testimony that they have is very powerful and helps lots of people see the sincerity of their testimony. even if it`s said with doctrine or vocabulary that the investigatores dont understand.
this week was a great week for teaching investigators but the numbers didnt quite say so. jaja its ok people arent statistics they are children of god and sometimes reaching goals is less important than helping people out. our investigator gerson got sick about like you dad i felt so bad for him, and so we went to visit him for a little while. he is a great guy and needed a little lifting of the spirit, so we went and talked with him about his life for a long while it was really a good important convesation. our other investigators are doing well, i am praying we baptize for the next two weeks and that should be what happens if everything keeps up how its going!
hmmm what else happened this week, well saturday someone vandilized the baptismal font so some of the other elders and i got the fun job of cleaning up for an hour during the relif society activity we had saturday. people that are inmature really frustrate me. and this week i got up to 178 i have been eating rice like a sumo over the last few days and it has payed off. jaja the guy in the gym is killing me. he made me do up downs and jup rope and ride the bike for the last 15 minutes every day. today i jumped rope 400 times my calves were dead... but im doing well loving my time!
hope you have a great week love you all so so so much!
and just so you know dad i get home the 20th of june...
and also nice move you pulled there to get out of running i mean im sure if you would have just thrown up the day before you could have gotten out of it, but hey you sold it well;) get feeling better!

Thanks for taking care of me, one of the hardest challenges i have had over the last few weeks is staying focused. every house i have been too has asked me about my time in the mission and what my plans are after the mission. i tell everybody go to college and get married when im thirty jaja but it is really nice to know what options i have when i get home. and i will say im super happy about dereks call but why did it have to come last saturday. jaja our president has been giving permision to all the missionaries to call home when family members get there call so of course i asked for permision to call and he said yep. but i guess its fine that he got it early to kill the suspense! and of course i cant wait to have spanish conversations at night with the little broski!!!!
great to hear about missionary efforts back home right now im loving working with the members in the ward. its really great to have some members that are focused on the work and it has made the last little while really enjoyable it would just be that much better if the people would just get baptized! gerson said he would be getting wet this weekend or the next i mean seariously he is in alma for pete's sake! it more than time;) dad i dont know if you ever had to get someone to stop living together but if you have any tips i would gladly accept them!
so this weeks story of the week... i had house revisions and it was hilarious the guy that checked our house asked us if we had an x box in the house so i said yes but not the flat screen. its hard to see on our little dvd player. he told me he would see what he could do. also i had divisions this week and ate the biggest hamberger we could find. can i just start off saying the level of stupidity there is in buying a hamberger dispues de vomit the sunday before. i dont know what i was thinking but i ate rice, chicken and vegies for the rest of the week so that i could get better. derek word of advice if you get sick learn how to make good white rice it makes everything ok when you are sick! but seeing as you will be in the u.s. im sure you will have a little bit better higene as far as eating out goes. #lovemexicanstreetfood #mexicanstreetfoodhatesme the true meaning of a love hate relationship.
well life is great over here! im closin in on 180 but right now im probably about 175 after being sick for a week! so we'll see how everthing goes! love you all so much super proud of all of you for your accomplishments and dont die this weekend iin the 10k still dont know how mom pulled that one... oh and feliz aniversario que tengan muchos mas estoy super agradecido por esta decision. sin aquello decision no estaria aqui asi que gracias muchas muchas gracias.

hmmm all i can say is people do crazy things for love... but i respect you! i wouldnt just go run 4 miles just for fun. ever... but if i had to speed walk 4 miles i'm pretty sure i would own it! jaja i will admit the speed walking abilities are pretty legit! and this week went so so well. other than sunday when i turned into a dragon but we`ll get there.
so like i said this week is going great. we finally got gerson to put his own baptismal date. first he tried to put june 20th but i said that was a lame goal cuz i wouldnt be there. so then he just laughed and said ok i was really thinking that the 21st or the 28th of march i will get baptized. i was soo happy! then we talked with the other investigator that we have her name is Ana and she is doing everything she can to get baptized but satan is fighting pretty hard its been really cool to see how she is progressing.
life is going great right now my companion is picking up on the routine of the mission a little more. Its fun to watch him get the hang of teaching lessons, planning and doing other missionary things. its funny to think that derek will be going throgh the same process in a few months. speaking of which when will that call get here??? i would love to hear where my little broski will go on the mission! ç
thanks for letting me know about the football stuff and school stuff. another question when would i start school?
and im sure you want to know how i converted into a dragon. well saturday night some members gave us some food and im pretty sure they didnt cook the meat the necesary time. so it was a little raw. i became more sure of that feeling when at about 12 30 in the morning i threw up every part of that taco i ate. it was horrible horrible horrible but it gets even better cause i went to church and told the bishop i would leave after the first hour. he said it was fine and right after the meeting leaving the front gate i threw up all over a tree in front of the church it was kinda funny looking back on the expèrience. jaja i gave half of the older members of the ward a scare when i just sat down next to my puke it was kinda a fail. so i got checked by one of the mission doctors and they gave me some drugs. and now im fine but it was a pretty funny moment for me!
so i hope you all have a great dont get sick because thats no fun haha love you all so so much !

alrighty well the work is going well over here. right now im just having a ball trying to get the ward members to work with us. so we talked to the elders quorum president and asked him for all of the less active elders or people that could become elders he seemed really pleased with what we were doing. and to be completely honest i have no idea how to animate ward mission leaders right now i have an awesome one. but what i think helps is, one their disposition to work. and two the work and progress he sees from the elders. generally speaking i have seen that even when i have lame mission leaders if im working my can off they like to be part of the success because the look better in front of the ward members. but your example is the most important part. they will follow what you do and maybe even equal youre efforts. so i woul just suggest that you tell the sisters to work more in the wards where the mission leaders are dispuestos to work hard.
i love the quote "el que no vive para servir no sirve para vivir" we cant reall put it in action but we have to be in the service of god with all of our heart.
sorry to hear about sickenesses. im doing well right now a little worried about the next two months cuz they are the times of year when most elders get sick. but i hope i learned from bad experiences and can make wise choices for my child and I.
good news we have an investigator named kimberly who is doing really well and the others are doing well. just waiting small things to get baptized. im having a really good time in this area right now its nice. the biggest downer of the week was when one of the people we are teching told us that he wouldnt be continuing the talks with us because he didnt feel good leaving the virgin. i felt like we planted the seed well so hopefully in the future things will go better if he gets another chance to talk to the missionaries in the future
my week went well hope you all have a gooden!
