May 27, 2014

alright family that is having a fantastic weekend... this week was a pretty good week. My companion and i worked really hard despite having some difficulties. and here comes the weekly run through.

tuesday oh what a marvelous tuesday. well i went in splits with elder Guachalla. and he got sick. the day before he put one of those aspirin tablets that you leave in water in his mouth and tried to swallow it. the pill was about the same size as a quarter just three times as thick. it started disolving in his throat and he was hating life with me. so we called the doctor and they told us to buy some benedryl to help it get better. i want you to think of will smith in hitch. that was my night in splits i was laughing so hard the whole time. it was a pretty good day.

wednesday. finished up splits with a druged up Elder Guachalla. and then headed back to my area to work. to put it simply we did work...;) and we had 5 new investigators. it was the best. and one of the new families we are teaching lives in the hill. when my companion told me that it was by the top of the hill i just smiled. then we couldnt find the house so we had to ask one of his friends how to get there. we litterally had to walk a trail and scale a little bit of the mountain to get there. it is probably the coolest house setting i have ever seen in mexico.

thursday. well today we helped some family members of one of the families move houses. it was a great because the three people that we moved in are new investigators and we are going to have a familynight with them tonight!( today monday) then we just had a bunch of lessons. and it was a really great night. it feels so good to finaly be working a little better in my area.

Friday. ok this was by far the worst day of the week. it rained a ton and we didnt have very many lessons. which was kinda lame becuase we were having such a great week. but i cant complain to much because we finished decently.

saturday. well it wasnt the best day either but we found a bunch of people and invited them all to church. i had 7 people this day tell me that they were going to church sunday! and i went to the visitors center with Saul and his family. the spirit was so awesome. and they said they wanted to go to church.

sunday. today was a great end to a great week. On tuesday in my district class to told my district i wanted 90 lessons  this week and we had 22 of the 30 that we needed. so we got to the church and none of my investigators showed up. it was really hard because i had so many that told me yes and they were all no shows. it was a hard morning and i was a little sad. and really just wanted to study after church and got to the food and then go to the branch family night. but my companion was like hey i want 30 lessons and i decided it was fine. so we started off right after church and couldnt find anyone to teach. then we just found everyone all at once. we gave good lessons to less actives and investigators and because we went to one investigator she came with us to the ward family night. we had 10 lessons that day. and we worked super hard last night we were both just super tired but really happy with the outcome of deciding to give our week a little more effort. also that was the most i have taught in a week on my mission. i feel like my companion and I have great chemistry and that we a going to have a good next two weeks.

alright dad i would like some advice. some times i get discouraged about being in my companionship because we dont see eye to eye on some things. how did you help your companionships stay good during the mission. any thoughts on how i can be a better companion would be greatly appreciated.

hope that you all have a great week. you guys are all so awesome! love you tons!

May 19, 2014

wow thats pretty awesome you guys seem to be handling all the stress up there pretty well, like bosses if i do say so myself!
And derek that may have been the coolest video i have ever seen!

well this week was quite fun. i had a lot happen and i feel like i had a different story for every day.

tuesday. i taught my district class. and it was alright. i still need to work on teaching my classes. but i had a decent day. we ate with solano and then went to my area to talk to Saul (Mexican Braxton) and his family. We talked to his wife for a while about some of the difficulties she had growing up and talked a little about the word of wisdom. i love that family so much they are the best. after we talked to them the heavens opened and decided i needed two showers that day. it poured and i couldnt get into any houses. i even taught a lesson outside in the rain. but it was great. we talked to a less active family that i had never contacted before and talked about the importance of the church. it was great.

wednesday. it was a good day i had a few lessons and had a new investigator who was a drunk... long story. but yeah we had a good day of teaching and doing missionary stuff!

thursday. well thursday started of with the lesson with our new investigator the drunk. and we started teaching him about the restauration about profets and jesus christ. it was a decent lesson until he saw my companions watch. he asked if he could see it( i dont know why my companion gave it to him but he did) and he put it on. then as we moved on with the talk he hid it in his pocket. when we finished he headed for the hill literally with my companions watch. i started yelling at him to give it back then i chased him down. he said he didnt have it anymore and that he had given it to some women that he said hi to when he passed by. i reached into his pocket and felt it and he stopped me from grabing it. then i told him that we had just talked about commandments and that stealing was agaings gods law. he didnt give me much attention as he took of in the other direction. i was ready to chase after him again but my companion just said to let it go it was a cheap watch. so that was the fun of thursday. but it was a pretty good day. and we worked hard.

friday. first of poor poor elder easter. i looked at my phone at about 7 30 and recieved a text asking me if we all felt alright. of course i was fine cause i never get sick;) so gave them a call asking what was up. and elder medina responded " porque mi compaƱero no quiere trabajar? " i laughed its always the joke when someone is sick. and then he said " my companion is dying he has been throwing up all morning." i went by a little later before the food. and checked on them and let me tell ya elder easter was dying i was there for 30 minutes and he threw up 3 times it was just a bad deal. then i went and ate. we came back after the food and i took elder medina to the food because elder easter was in no state to leave the house. so i came back and he had still been throwing up. he was feeling a little better and i had two lessons to teach so i headed back to my area. when i finished up things over there i got a call from elder medina saying that his companion was still dying and that i needed to come back so we could go buy an injection from wal mart. you would be amazed at the things you can buy in mexico without a doctors note... then we headed back so a sister could inject him. well when i got back he was payin it alittle and we had to walk to the hermanas house. it was less than a block away. but out side the door the started throwing up and lost vision and hearing. it was really bad. then his hands cramped up and he started going into shock. so we headed on over to the hospital. and when i got there i just looked at the nurse and said he needs help. we rushed into instant care and everything was alright after we got the iv in. but it was pretty intesnse. we left the hospital at 12 in the morning and so our mission president just took us to his house.

saturday. woke up in presidents house and washed his car and played ping pong i was undefeated dont worry.;) but it was a great  day we had 4 hours of capacitations in the afternoon but i felt pretty good about the day.

then  sunday. i went to stake conference which was awesome and then had a bunch of lessons with new people. it was just a good day after hardly working the last two and i have 4 new investigators cant wait to visit them this week it should be great!

well love you all tons im having a great time here wish you all the best! tons of love

Cinco de Mayo!! 2014

ha ha or else what... just kidding. i will have some good pictures in this letter.

this week was a great one. I am finishing up the training of elder gomez this week. he is a great companion. I got two new members in my district this week and they are super great. one is named elder medina and the other is elder guachalla. it took me a while to learn his name. but i got it straight now;) well this week started of just about on par. april was the worst month of my mission by far! haha it was the 29th tuesday and i got super sick from a throat infection. it led to about a 102 degree fever. all i did that day was go to the temple to pick up the new elders and bring them to there house. while i was there i went to the doctors and they gave me a shot in the rear! talk about a pain in the butt!  then i just went and crashed the whole afternoon in my house.

wednesday i was still a little sick but had to teach district class and go to the food in tola. i went home with a little fever that day. and a small prayer that april would just end.

thursday was super bomb. the day started off with a decent study and then we went to go buy some medicine for my companion at walmart. we also got some food for the week. that was nice i mad some crazy stuff this weekend! then in the after noon i had to do weekly planing and while i was inside it started hailing it was freaking big hail too. crazy stuff!

friday we had to go to a leaders capacitation it was pretty great my president gave us a lot of goals to try and complete this week and i feel like we can do it but we have to work like an elder frica;) that night i found a family to teach and the dad is the mexican braxton. he is hilarious. and he talks to me in english a little! he also has two 9 year old twin daughters. they are a little crazy they remind me of a young savanah!

saturday i made the sandwich of death you guys will die when you see this thing. it was a pretty great morning preparing breakfast. then in the afternoon i worked and found a new investigator. his name is alberto and he is 14 and picks up everything super fast!

sunday. just went to church like normal. then after we ate with our branch president. he has had to face so many challenges with his family and is handling everything really well. then in the night we went to a families house and watched a part of the best two years as a family night. my companion is elder calhoun in every wayand shape haha!

today is great!

i hope you guys have a good week i pray for you all everyday and cant wait to talk to you next week! love you tons!

elder Jenson

my companion knows how to make a ton of fried stuff so we made corndogs and apple doughnuts!

the sandwich of death. it was so good but it was a huge sandwich

No wonder he's sick, the Coke is gone.  We raised him better than that!!
If you're going to be addicted to caffeine, at least make it taste good! DP
